Default Fuel Lines

Ok - I just had a shocker. Doing the fuel line and filter replacement on my bike. No biggie right? Easy to do - until you look for replacement line and It takes 2 ft to change both lines.
Well, just cruising the stores for 5/16" submersible fuel line. HOLY HELL! $50 a foot !!!! Yeah, $50 a FOOT! You have got to be kidding. Was looking for SAE 30R9 or J30R10 which is rated as "submersible". I have some very high quality Dayco 30R7 and some Parker 5/16" 30R3 fuel line, lots of it actually. I think that I just might try it even though it is not rated for "Submersible" -I mean, damn... What the hell???
Anyone try other than the Submersible rated fuel line with any results, good or bad ? Even if I have to pull the pump every 2 or 3 years to change the stuff I have, it's really a pretty easy job.

That is basically what one of the types I have is. It is not rated for Submersion in fuel. But, I may be trying it anyway. If it just stiffens up, hell that is what the OEM plastic does.

After lots of searching it looks like I may be going back to the OEM-style fuel lines. Way cheaper than any other options I have found. Ebay has a ton of them, and all the other parts for the fuel tank assy.

I wouldn’t take that chance. Might leave you stranded somewhere and have to do the job all over again.

So no one has used a regular fuel line in an application where it was submerged? Just curious about what it does, I suspect it just gets ridgid.

I have seen pictures online in the past of a regular hose being used instead of a submersible rated fuel line in a fuel tank.
That regular hose became swollen.
In the picture i saw it looked like the non-submersible hose was melting.
It looked like the exterior of the non-submersible was not designed for the constant exposure and the hose basically lost all integrity..

Thank you - I have never used a regular fuel line in a submersed application myself so that helps. I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices of the submersible line, so it's back to the OEM style for me.
Prices of everything have just become insane. I try not to buy the overpriced things I can get around. I am afraid, this is the new norm though...
