Default Shock length 2022 Heritage

My 2018 Heritage suspension was fine to me as stock. I bought a new 2022 Heritage in October and the rear suspension seems to bottom out when I enter my driveway (relatively high curb). I have adjusted the preload twice (2.5 marks) to stiffen it up, but it still does it. Took it to the dealership and they say it's fine (of course). Thinking of changing to a Progressive 429 shock. Several lengths are available (12.2, 12.5, 13.1 13.5"). Does anyone know what the OEM rear shock length is?

Also taken in consideration, that it’s also about the spring rate .
So when your on The progressive suspension site , Go to Tech Info and then click on Specifications to research spring rates .

I don't know the OEM shock length...

Both bikes have the same OEM #54000138 rear shock with 56mm stroke. That stroke is longer than the other two softail OEM options, both at 43mm Stroke.

Both bikes have the same OEM #43017-07 rear rim and 150/80B16 size rear tire....

That suggests, barring a change from OEM rims, tires, shocks between the two bikes, they should ride, or be able to be adjusted to ride the same....????

Of course, I would never try to talk someone out of going to an aftermarket shock on any Harley. That will almost always be an improvement...

I just find it interesting that same shocks, wheels, tires, & frame cannot be adjusted to ride very similar...

Someone will be along shortly who will have the info you need....

Good luck with your shock mods...

12" in your case, 13" on the new low riders.

are you setting it to the Harley spec setting for your weight ?? i am 250+ and have mine set about 3.5 and it does fine. i can bottom out on large or sharp jars, but it isnt harsh.
i should adjust the dampening and try it, but i like the squat when throttling up.

i am going to go with a 12" to lower my bike, but most go 13 and raise an inch

I'm only 155 lbs. According to the HD spec I have it set more stiff than should be needed. My 2018 did not bottom out on the same curb at a less-stiff setting.
