Has anyone ran into this? Starter works about 80% of the time, even if I have to push the button 2,3 , or 4 times.
When it doesn't start, Itap the starter with a small hammer and it starts. A Custom shop can't figure it out, Harley can't figure it out.
The starter has been replaced, the relay has been replaced, the battery is new, the wires were checked out. The old starter was checked out after removal
and it was fine. Any Clues?
Might look at the starter clutch. I replaced my starter last year put 10K on it then it began acting up. went out on day and the starter just spun. new clutch and no problems
Sounds like a intermitant ground failure. Clean all the area's where the starter grounds. Make sure the grounding contactsare torqued tight. Just a thought...
