Has anyone had trouble with the starter clutch? Had mine go on an '04 roadster and the bike has less than 20000km. I think thata starter should last much longer and have never had trouble with a starter on other vehicles.

Not sure what your problem is. Starter or clutch? Starters are pretty dependable but, I have had problems with them from time to time. The usual problem is that the solenoid will hang up and not engage the flywheel to turn freely. When you go to start it, the starter will drag and, unless you have a really powerful battery, it will not want to turn over the engine.You then begin to wonder if its the battery or what. A bench test of the starter will indicate the resistance flow.

The dealer told me they replaced the starter clutch. I'll look up the part number on the work order. It is the thing that lets the starter gear run only one way and free run the other. Starter drive? Anyway, Harley calls it the "starter Clutch".
