Default clutch adjustment

Which will give you the most clutch 1/2 turn out or a full turn out on the clutch adjuster?

Turning it in will give you more free play, (as in finding neutral might get easier.)

I've never been more than 1/2 turn out on any of my bikes over the years. 1/4 turn is a big deal.

Are you saying to only turn it out 1/4 turn?

Yes, start there if that's what you're trying to achieve.

What exactly do you mean by "most clutch"? Do you mean more friction zone? In any event, turning the adjuster out less will cause the clutch to grab closer to the bar when letting the lever out. Turning out more will have it grab further from the bar. Here is a good video where the effect of 1/2 vs. a full turn is shown:

This video is counterintuitive to the way it normally works. Back out 1/2 turn and clutch friction zone moves out further from the grip or perch. One full turn and it engages closer.

You did not say what year you have. If you have the older cable clutch.
1/2 is the book standard
3/4 will allow clutch to engage soon
1/4 turn engages later not a good choice.
1 full turn to much.

It is that simple do not make this hard. It is an esy job.
