Deceptive word-play to make you believe something that is not true? Perhaps we should e-mail EnthusiastEditor@pcspeed.com(meaning everyone reading this send an e-mail), mentioning the Magnussen-Moss Act and ask how it could "impact" the warranty?
Well, a word-smith I ain't... but here's what I got. I'll post if I get a reply: In the summer edition of Enthusiast, Jim Hanley asked about using synthetic oil in his ride. The editor response was âSYN3 is the only synthetic motor oil that does not impact your 24-month, unlimited mile factory warranty.â How would using Mobile 1 or AMSOIL impact my warranty? Keeping in mind the Magnussen-Moss warranty improvement act clearly states that the only way a warranty can specify the manufacturer's service and disposables (like oil, filters, etc) is if they also supply them to you free during the warranty period, I don't see how this is possible.

Why does Harley have to play games...You pay a pretty penny for there product you get jacked around at there service department you get jacked around if you use a "non Harley part or oil " I just don't understand.........I am getting all this info from this site about everyone not trusting the dealer for work or maintenance etc etc......Harley saying they wont cover warranty for any aftermarket parts....damm its not like they are making any money...they charge a arm and a leg for there parts.... when you want to ad on.......now this in this mag........ sorry to vent..........thats what it seems like to me.....
I don't know what to make of this bull. I just had my 07' Deluxe in for the 1000mile checkup at HD. They used Syn3. BUT, when I was at the service window, I noticed a box on the floor that was filled AMS oil. I asked, and the service manager said that a customer had brought it in for his bike. He said that AMS oil and Mobil V-Twin are used if customers request it without any problem. Customers have to bring in the oil, otherwise SYN3 is used.
I took my bike in for the 5000 mile service and gave the servicemanager 4 quarts of Amsoil 20w50 and a quart of Amsoil Severe Gear. He took it with no problem and deducted the cost of the oil off my service cost. They even gave me back the unused 8oz. of the severe gear. Never mentioned anything about warranty issues.
