Default Front Brake Switch

Just got a Drag Specialties 2106-0088 replacement for the faulty front brake switch on my 2007 Deuce. I always prefer to do solid wire and no splices if possible but looking at the wire sleeve that goes under the tank, I am thinking about splicing. Has anyone done this repair? Tell me what worked best for you.
Thanks

I kept it all inside the clam shell. Protect the tank and front fender.

Careful undo it slowly. Note position of V clip spring. Leave enough (1/4" extra on each of the 4 wires) to strip and soldier. But no more then what was in there. Stagger connections.

Slide on shrink wrap. Don't forget. Twist wires and soldier. Bend flush one one direction, the other opposite direction.

I always wind on one layer of plastic electric tape. Slide shrink over it total enclosure and heat. I always seal ends of shrink with RTV.

Careful replace that V clip.

Your in there anyway, why solider outside clamshell.

Inline splice will prevent the "bulge" and stop from having to bend it over. Damn, I see this thread derailing quickly!! LMAO!

This is how Uncle Sam taught me to splice wires on airplane NAV/Com systems when required.
Ill add that these should also include the correct heat shrink tubing.
Another thing to do is get yourself a small, flat file, and file down any lumps, stray ends, or sharp edges/points before you shrink the tubing.
Making this type of repair should be a one-time thing without any worries if the splice will fail, ground out, or even just create a fat spot in the harness that might be problematic for adjacent wires in the future.

First pic is after soldering, second pic is after filing down the burrs and sharp edges (prior to heat shrink).

Either way works. My joint is more flexible!?

But now it's a joint swinging show.

Ultra guy is got it good so far. A ten for sure. As long as his joint is not cold under all that lead.
