I'd just replace it. I have had them test fine. It is either heat or vibration that did it for me, intermitently at first. Bike is 20 years old, I wouldn't be afraid to replace coil and CPK. Worse case you have new parts that won't fail for awhile.

Or easier and cheaper put a buddy's in that you know works.

That is what I did last time, shop had one on the shelf. on a touring bike you got to loosen the tank and screw around with it. Do you really want to do that to a buddies bike over $150-175?

Coil comes right off on a FB. Takes all of 1 minute.
