Default 2014 Harley Softail Slim

Considering buying a 2014 Slim. I know about the cam chain tensioners being the most common defect in the TC. How can I eval this from just a quick test ride or idling eval? Any other signs to look for to walk away?

I appreciate it.

If maintained, the later TC engines didn't have the cam chain tensioner problems the early ones did. But they can wear with lots of miles. Listen for noises from the cam cover side, loud rattling or knocking noises if they are really bad on start up and idle. The only way to know for certain is remove the cam cover and look at them. Lifters are another item of interest and are also on the right side.

I'd ask about maintenance and for any other records that may be available. Any idea why the front fender was removed?

Thanks. I'll listen to the cam chain as best I can when/if I go see it. I asked about the front fender..no response yet. Kinda getting that feeling about this one.

How many miles? And is it the original owner? Either way, I would expect some maintenance records or at least receipts that show maintenance items were purchased for that bike over the duration that the current owner had the bike.

I hear a whirring kinda noise. IDK if this is a concern but I'm doubting it. Looks pretty good IMO.

Don't take this the wrong way....but in my opinion that bike looks pretty ragged....rode hard and put away wet. There's a few signs that show me she wasn't well taken care of.

Walk away, save your money and yourself the aggravation.

IDK what you're looking for....but I'd look at this before considering that.

Agree with 04FXDI, it looks like it has either lived outside in the elements or was neglected at some point. Many fasteners are rusted, and it looks like there is a scrape.on the inside of the left fork or fork cover and dent in the left front of the tank. The scrape makes me wonder even more about why the front fender is missing.

Paul, You notice the lack of AC? Looks like there's nothing there, if that's the case that motor is sucking up some serious dirt. Also right at 10 seconds you can clearly see a large dent in the headlight shroud above the cow bell.

McGurk. Way to many red flags brother.
