Default Heritage Classic Front end compatability

Hey guys, sorry if this is a repeat question, I tried to search for the answer. I have a 2011 heritage the needs a new front-end (someone pulled out in front of me). I have the opportunity on a great deal but it's off of a 1998 Heritage. Are these years compatible? Sterring head size and axle size? Caliper? Planning on using my rim, my brake caliper, and risers.. but need everything else from this other bike.

I can't help you as far as the compatibility issue but I have two questions.

First, if someone pulled out in front of you, they should be found at fault and their insurance company should be covering the repairs. it shouldn't be difficult to find front end parts for a 2011 Heritage. Why are you repairing the bike yourself?

Second, was your bike totaled and you bought it back as a salvage bike?

They have different size axles, different wheel hubs, different wheel bearing systems, different fork lowers (where the caliper bolts up), an updated steering head & bracket, and a different frame...

Without measuring and doing some more actual parts comparisons, I have no idea if they would be compatible.

I feel confident guessing the '88 parts will not be able to bolt up to the '11 bike, at least not without modifications (possibly serious modifications).

The vehicle that pulled out in front of me was stolen... they found the vehicle, but the driver was not found. Had to go through uninsured motorist through my insurance.
Yes, he bike was totalled, the bike isn't listed as salvage. It's listed as owner retention.. as long as I never sell it, I don't need to do anything with the title.. if I sell it I need to get a rebuilt title after I have it inspected by the DOT. I will be rebuilding it myself... gives me something to do.. have way too much invested to let her go...

Too many variables due to the differences in years from the bike to the parts. I would spend some time on the Bay and source the year correct parts. You don't want to do all that work to find out you created a problem. 2011 parts should be readily available and inexpensive, good luck getting her back together.
