Changing the handle bar bushings on my ‘04 Heritage and found this ! Noticed a bit of oil when I removed the rear covers. The left pinch bolt in the lower tree was broken, allowing the tube to start screwing out of the spring cap. There was only a few threads engaged when I pulled it apart.

Rebuilding both sides now. My bad for overlooking this area under the covers, when checking nuts and bolts. This could have ended badly.
