Will a 98 fatboy triple tree & fork set up fit an 06 fatboy? Had someone stop dead in front of me caved forks & bent lower triple tree found a complete front end off a 98
Most part numbers are the same (upper tree, tins, bearings etc), but the lower tree has a different part number, but that's not saying it won't fit in the steering head. The 98 uses a different front brake caliper, so the left lower leg will be different where the brake caliper attaches, and your original one won't attach. I believe the 98 had a loop on the lower tree for a pad lock, but I'm thinking that was removed on the 06 with a different lock mechanism. So you might have a close look at the lock tab on the 98 lower tree to see if might interfere with the newer bike.
There are definately some differences, but you may be able to make it work.
It will literally bolt right on, however 1998 still used a 3/4 axle, yours is 1” so the wheel bearing is different 1998 uses Timkins yours uses ball bearings and the brake uses the old 84-99 single piston caliper with different mounting positions.
A set of correct fork sliders could be had for pretty cheap from eBay and go on the 98 front no problem, then you’d be able to use all your stuff brakes rim tire etc.
