New Springer Needs Quieting
I hope this is the right place for this.
I recently purchased a 2003 FLSTC Softail Springer with after market slip-ons and they are too loud. I was looking for stock mufflers and ebay seems to have them.
My question is the stock mufflers have a big hole where they connect to the pipe. Are these the correct ones, and what connects to the hole?
Those mufflers are not the OEM mufflers from your bike. They are from a 2003 FLSTC/I. They use a crossover mount to equalize the two head pipes. Your model does not use that crossover mount to equalize the exhaust gases.
You COULD use those mufflers, but you would need the associated mount, head pipes, heat shields, and hardware from the FLSTC/I to make it work on your model..
Here is your 2003 FLSTS/I OEM exhaust:

Here is the 2003 FLSTC/I OEM exhaust:

It would be cheaper/easier to get the OEM fishtails or aftermarket mufflers made for your model- FLSTS/I...
I hope this info helps...
