There is also the chance that whoever built the bike never installed a T fitting in the line.

The T fitting is no longer available from HD.

So how do I take this cover off? I'm stumped here..

I was unable to zoom in and read what is written on the bottom of that air cleaner cover. Try to google that word/name with "air cleaner cover" and you may find all you need to know about that air cleaner...

Most often, if an air cleaner cover, or some of the center medallions on the newer air cleaner covers, are obstructing the bolt(s), then the cover is usually held on with a friction fit fastener of some type... I have seen that industrial, hard plastic velcro, and other friction fitting fasteners hold that outer chrome cover in place. It's hard to say for sure what type is being used.

On a custom bike, it could be anything from a removable friction fastener to JB Weld....

If I could not find specific info on the internet for that cover, I would gamble it's a friction fit and try to pry it off the air filter to expose the mounting screws underneath......

It's a K&N air cleaner. I will try to pry on that black rubber seal going around it. It might be friction fit, as you say. Thanks.

NOTE: It is NOT a friction fit... DO NOT PRY on the cover...... I found the cover and install instructions on eBay... see the below info..

I found one on Ebay....

https://www.ebay.com/itm/355016664578

If you look at the pic of the back of the package, it says, "Invisible mounting for the outer cover."

I also found the install instructions. It IS NOT a press fit.

Read the instructions and look at the instruction pics (enlarge them if you need to). It looks like the outer cover has two studs with threads that fit through the backing plate and are held on with two nuts at the backing plate. The two nuts should be at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock on the rear (engine side) of the backing plate.... They may also connect the backing plate to two brackets on the breatehr tubes (figures 3 & 4)

I hope this helps...

I got it, guys. Thanks again for the help. I saw those two bolts but just couldn't imagine that would be it. I'm embarassed for asking now haha. Pretend I didn't ask that last question.

I think from here on I should be fine. I plan on putting the James Gasket kit on the carb. Judging from the outside, it looks good. Hopefully it's not too bad inside lol.

Rebuilding a CV carb is super easy. You COULD have an issue with the phillips bowl screws, as they tend to get a little bit stuck over the years and people grab whatever Phillips head screw driver and go to town, ending up with stripped heads. Make sure you're using the correct size, and press the driver firmly into the screw for a solid grip. A drop or two of penetrating oil ahead of time will not hurt either. Worse case scenario, you replace the screws with allen screws, but that's not always necessary. Again, proper sized screwdriver makes a big difference.

While you're in there, check the numbers on your jets so you know what's in there for future reference.

The correct driver is a JIS #2. Get one - Priceless.
