Default trying to remove handlebar switch housing

I have A 99 fatboy. my throttle doesn't snap back. I'm trying to remove the Handlebar switch housing to lubricate throttle cables. from what I have found so far there should be A top and bottom screw but there is only one screw on the bottom. How do I get it apart?

There should be two #2 screws as shown in the pic shared by eighteight. One is on the top, forward, slightly off center to the left. The other is on the bottom just where the pic shows it... (not sure why the pic doesn't show the Top screw).

Those two screws are the only ones...

Your '99 uses the same OEM parts as my 2001 Springer. I just looked at my '01 Springer, and confirmed two screws...

It's been awhile since I have taken off those controls/covers. That cover interfaces with the front brake lever mount. Maybe where they interface is sticking together..

Note: Be careful of the front brake switch (#10 in eighteight's pic above). It can get damaged from the pressure of the brake lever on the switch as you remove the switchpak. Many suggest to put a pice of cardboard (or similar small wedge) between the end of the brake lever and the brake lever mount to take pressure off that switch during assembly or disassembly.

As hattitude said, you need to remove the 2 screws on the lever/master cylinder in addition to the screws on the switch assembly.

Gotta disagree here. To access the cables for lube, all that needs to be done is to remove the 2 screws that hold the switch housing together (one on top, one on the bottom), and separate the 2 halves. The handlebar clamp shouldn't be touched.

To the OP: make sure you wedge a thick piece of cardboard (or something similar) into the brake lever (essentially mimicking you pulling the lever), so that you don't damage the front brake light switch located inside the housing.

Cheers!

Your cables may well be shot. But they also can be pulled tight, which also makes them drag something fierce. Slacken the adjusters and see if things suddenly relax.

Not sure but doesn't look like A cover to me. I've worked on cars for years but fairly new to bikes.

Well, without the screw on top, that is clearly not an OEM set-up.... So it's impossible for us, without a very close inspection, to guess how that should/could/would come off...

Here is where the top screw on the OEM is located.. This is my '01 Springer that uses the same cover part numbers as your bike... So if you just have a chrome cover over the OEM cover, there should be a way to remove it to access this screw...

If it's a replacement aftermarket chrome cover that replaces the OEM cover, I can't guess....
