Default Tri Bar install

my question, since I am picking up my bike tomorrow, is this...are the screw/bolts holding the FXSTB tail light on torx, standard, or what? The dealer said he had not looked at it very closely but thought it may be torx. even after $4,000 in parts and labor, they do not want to install it for me at no charge which chaps my @ss, but what are you gonna do I guess.

It takes about 20 minutes to install.... I think the light cover is held on by 2 phillips heads, and the case is on by (4) 9/16 bolts.

The tri bar license plate braket uses allen wrenches...

Sorry, I missread the question. The light lens itself is held on with a pair of phillips screws. Not sure now if you have to take the fender support rails off just to put the tailight in, I did for the rack adaptor, but if you do the fender support rails useTorx T-45 bolts, an they use locktite on them so they can be tough to get out. Use a good set of bits that fit properly or you WILLmess them up, and regret it later.

okay good, I wont even worry aboutit then. I will just do it when I get home. I was concerned because I do not have any torx drivers, but it is good to hear that I have no worries. thanks.

sounds like I should pick up a t-45 anyway since it is needed for the bike. I also will be installing the detachable sissy bar hardware, so that may require the torx bits that you are referring to.

If your going to do that get a good set of them, just make sure it has a T-27 in it. For some reason its not commonly included in many of the sets but Harley does use it on there bikes.
