I will be having my indie install a cam over the winter months. Bike is a 2008 Heritage, 96 cu. in., Cobra slash cut slip-ons with DK Custom TTI's, DK high-flow, air filter and a thundermax tuner/ecm.
I am looking for a more "lopey" sound, if that makes sense, and a little performance increase. Not looking to build a drag bike, I am 66 and wouldn't consider my riding style to be aggressive! 🙂
Woods, Zippers, Fueling...so many choices!
Any constructive advice and suggestions would be much appreciated!!
TIA.
I like my Woods 555 in my 2013 FLTK 103. It has Stage 1 air cleaner backplate, V&H Power Duals/Monster Ovals, SE quick adjust pushrods and Woods 555 cams. 100 HP and 110 Lb Ft TQ. You would notice more valve train noise with the fast ramp cams but not to worry, mine have been installed several years now with no issues using stock valve springs, lifters and cam bearings.
Andrews 48's are always a good choice for a stock 96 inch. The video clip below isn't mine, but he shows a cold idle and a hot idle.
I run one in my stock '09 Ultra. With just the cams, a good performance exhaust and an SE breather I'm making plenty of get up and go for a stock motor.
I suggest you get a dyno tune when you do a cam. Best to ask your dyno guy what he prefers. Very little difference between many cams- you won't feel any difference but a good dyno tune makes for a very pleasant ride.
