Default Riser swap tool list. Please.

So @hattitude and I had a lengthy discussion about swapping risers on my girls 09 Deluxe, as always Hat's a plethora of information and extremely helpful. I don't have a service manual handy and in need of a tool list and torque specs. The PO had the 4" risers on the Deluxe prior to my girl purchasing it, but he didn't like em, so he went back to stock, we have the 4" and plan on doing it this weekend. If someone could point me in the direction of a tool list/torque spec, reason being, I'll be going to her place on my bike Saturday and don't have the means to bring my old rollaway toolbox to tackle the job. Easier to just bring what I need. Then we head out on Saturday for what may be one last fall ride.

Thanks in advance. As always TY @hattitude

Reference the parts pic I sent you in a private msg....

The risers are called a "Lower clamp" in the 2009 Factory Softail Service Manual. There are two part #3471 = Bolt, 1/2-13 x 2-3/4" Hex head, Grade 5. They are torqued to 30-40 ft lbs. They are #2 in the parts pic.

The upper clamps (handlebar clamp) uses four #3494A = bolt, 5/16-18 x 7/8" hex head. They are all installed hand tight, the bars are adjusted, torque rear screws (toward rider) to 12-15 ft lbs. and then front screws to 12-15 ft lbs. They are #3 in the parts pic.

Here's the two pages from the 2009 Softail Service manual:

I'm gonna go take a lunch break.... you're wearing me out...

@hattitude Sorry Hat, I took a brief look at the other photo you sent but didn't study it enough to notice the bolt sizes. Thanks again.

Not a problem....

I sent it to show the parts break down you would be dealing with... the bolt sizes were on the right side, where the #2 & #3 were listed..

I still have the pic I captured..

By the way, you mentioned tool list....

Both my '03 Heritage and '09 Cross Bones say they use "#3494A Hex heads" per the online parts finder for the handlebar clamp. But on my bikes they use a 1/4" Allen/hex key bolt. So bring a 1/4 Allen as well as a 1/2" socket/wrench.

My '03 Heritage also has the "#3471 hex head" bolts which use a 3/4" socket/wrench.

I can get to those #3471 bolts without removing any of the front fork cover panels on my Heritage. It's tight, but doable. If needed, the Heritge uses 3/16 Allen/hex key bolts to remove those covers, but that is with the detachable windshield hardware.

The Deluxe looks the same, but I've never worked on a Deluxe...

Sounds great, thanks. Just hope it goes smoothly. I've watched a few You Tubers, seems straight forward. Just a simple swap.

Real easy....

Have some soft covers for the tank. Then you can remove the bars with all the wires and levers still attached and lay them back on the tank. Swap out the risers, then put the bars back into the new risers.

The hardest part will be figuring out just where to have the bars adjusted for best comfort...

Post a couple before and after pics....
