Default noisy fat boy

A friend of mine has an anniversary fatboy....i believe it is a 2005....it came from the factory as a 1550....On saturday while riding to a rally, when she stopped for fuel, she noticed that the motor was knocking very badly,it sounded like something in the bottom end...it sounded much more serious than cam chain tensioners..it was recommended that she not drive it...so she had it trucked home.Does anyone know of any problems that these models are having....any info would be appreciated...thanks.

I bought one! The Silver 15th Anniversarymodel 95 C.I. cost $21,000.00 tax, title, freight, set-up, Blah, Blah, any way it rode like a Caddy! But kind of Plain Jane, but at 400 miles I noticed a small drop of oil on floor, looked under bike could not tell where it came from so wiped it clean rode 50 miles come in garage look under bike oil coming from where theCASES met!! That meant they would have to rebuild my whole motor after they tore it down for a GASKET!! It would totally be violated! So went to other HARLEY DEALER and stopped about mile before I got there and wiped her CLEAN and the oil was getting on back tire but went in and traded my brand new bike for one of the first 06 C.V.O. Fat Boy, they beat me like red headed step child on trade but I knew they would spot leak after a couple of hours sitting there, I know sounds chitty for me to do it but I lost a easy $5,000.00, so that was my problem and I'm sure other things would pop up!! PURPLE HAZE.

If you have anything even close to 30K miles. CHECK YOUR CAM CHAIN TENSIONERS. When mine wentI swore I had a rod knocking around. Hd factory denies any problems, however they have already changed the chain design. Mine went on my 2002 back in early 2004 @ 32K miles. There is a problen and the HD factory knows it but they deny it!!

If you need to change them, look in to installing a gear driven one, it will save you from doing it again in another 30k miles.
