Goof-off is acetone based, and can harm paint. I have used it on stubborn tar on chrome pipes with good results... but I use it sparingly.
Goo-Gone won't harm paint, but can harm rubber. Use it judiciously, don't just spray it all over... I have used it as vtbigdog has suggested. Put it on an old microfiber towel and dab it on the adhesive.
Isopropyl alcohol will also remove adhesives on paint, but too much for too long may harm some paints, like latex or water based paints.

Thanks again guys and I'll keep you posted.
