Fauilt Codes
Ok - back out to my shop.
Started reading through all the troubleshooting schematics. Funny how easy it is for the arrows o take you to "replace ECM" "Replace XXX" - like it's your money they are spending !
Ok -Since most all lof the items Mr. H listed have been done, and done within the last couple of times the bike was ridden. including draining the fuel and fresh fill of Zero Eth Prem, which is all I have ever used, or anyone here for that matter. I have not and can't really find an easy way to do much with the ECM, and the book writes it off as an item to replace pretty damn easily.
I have had in my mind the MAP sensor. Manifold Air Pressure, sensor for anyone following my drama. Ok - Pulled the connector, volt checks 5V DC just like it is supposed to. That verifies power is getting ot it. Here is the biggie that might be something. Leaving the connector disconnected. Fired the bike up. Took a couple of tries and a chuff from the intake, like it has always done first start since this started. Bike ran exactly like it has been - Zero change with the MAP sensor disconnected, meaning it was not doing anything, and the bike even when rev'd up, was 100% running like it has been running. Not worse, exactly like it has been.
SO - does that indicate to anyone else that the MAP sensor may not be functioning and causing the running and chuffing, and misfire? Sure looks like it to me. A chuff in the Aerospace world is a lean burn at start, and that is exactly what it has been acting like. I think I just might be on to my demon.
I know the seal is good because that was all part of the intake seals inspection just a short time ago.
I could do further volt checks on it while running and have inline wire connections that checks high and low volts and different conditions, but it shows me it is getting the proper volts from the ECM, by what I checked.
So what does the - Think Tank Panel think of what I found?
Bad part. = Looked the MAP sensor up on the HD site - No Longer Available..... I'll cross that later I guess.
IMHO....
You measured proper voltage from the ECM to the MAP....
The engine doesn't run any different whether the MAP is connected or disconnected.. and shows the same issues you have been trying to diagnose, whether connected or disconnected...
If I got that correct, That is enough for me to spend the $50 to get a new one and give it a try. If it doesn't fix it, you will at least have a spare part that will most certainly be obsolete in the not too distant future.
As to it being obsolete, I don't think it is...
The online parts finder shows it as #2 & #17
#2 = #11291 Manifold Air Pressure Seal @ $2.14 list
#17= #32416-10 Manifold Air Pressure Sensor @ $51.95 list
I was able to put in my Ronnie's HD Online cart, and they will sell both to me... SO you should be bale to do the same or get one from your dealer..
I hope this info helps... Keep us posted

Yes, I agree. Since it did not run any differently when disconnected, I think it's worth a shot. I was pretty excited when I got those results. Tell you though, that is not one of the better designs, having it just sit there and a protruding piece of plastic from the throttle mount hold it in place.
Thanks Mr. H. I have not ordered from Ronnies, but I think I will give it a try instead of going to our shop.
Man, I hope this is it. That would be great.
Here was the part number I had in my parts guide.
32316-99 Manifold Air Pressure Sensor.
Not sure why, But I cannot find it in the parts schematic, or by using the number 32416-10. The seal is there, but not the sensor, other than the picture of it.
I cannot seem to do a screen print to here - I'm pathetic...
Using hte part number I get this message : There were 0 part numbers containing 32416-10. 2002 FLSTFI SOFTAIL FAT BOY (INJECTION) (BX)

Yeah, I got the number above from the online parts finder. Apparently the "-10" part number is the newer, backwards compatible part that supercedes your OEM part number.
I can see it in the diagram but the listing shows this for #16 & #17
16 CFITMENTCOMMENTS*
SENSOR, MANIFOLD AIR PRESSURE* 1.99 1
17 CFITMENTCOMMENTS*
SENSOR MAP, W/O SEAL* 1.99 1
How do you do a screen print / copy to here ? - I keep getting a flag to use the image uploader.

A couple of things for anyone following and may be dealing with this in the future.
The CPK I replaced is slightly different and supersedes the original.
The sensor on the right hand side is the original.
Home made spark checker.
While working on this bike problem has been taxing - I at least have a nice place to work on it.
This is the left-hand side of my shop.
NASCAR on the TV, Beer in the frig, broken bike.
Sad Fat Boy. Both, me and the bike...
The other side of my shop is huge and would be where I would have room for the lift, but most of the tools are on the side shown here and in the main garage. Oh well.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Not sure it will ever come to be, but I have a plan...
Next avenue to stumble down. Fuel pressure regulator. I have one, and I am figuring that while I hate working on the fuel system, it's about the next thing to try.
Pressure test was a strong 58 psi. But I don't really know what else to try.
Spark good, New plugs
New wires
Two Coils tested.
Fuel pressure good
Fuel filters and lines were new a while back.
Air system is clean and has a new MAP.
New injectors
New CPK
New battery.
Last on the list and want to avoid - ECM.
Man am I bummed....
