Default Clutch springs

has anyone out there changed their clutch springs on a soft tail?? i need to know if the primary needs to come off or can i just jack up the bike and take out the outer cylinder plugs and put it in 6th gear and spin the rear wheel to rotate the basket to get to the lowest spring without the clutch basket getting out of alignment with the spring holes for the bolts? thanks if you can answer this. iam working on a 18 Fatboy 114

really? no one here has replaced the cheap low grade springs from the factory? they slip bad at higher rpms. you have to buy the screaming eagle 1200n springs is their upgrade springs. this will add apx 6 more pounds of pull to the clutch lever. iam trying to NOT pull the primary. in the touring the clutch basket is lined up at the derby cover. not so much with the Softails.
i have already put the fat baggers clutch adjuster to compensate for the extra 6 lbs of pull. no more plastic crap in the clutch lines. anybody?
iam shocked that no-one has noticed the slippage in the clutch when winding out the gears. this is only on the m8 motors

Oh i'm sure everyone has noticed how bad these clutches slip since they are a slipper style clutch. If you want it to grab then put in a better clutch altogether like an Evolution, Rekluse or Barnett. But good luck trying to change it thru the derby cover. I don't think its that hard to remove the primary cover and do it right. It only takes an extra 5 or 10 minutes of work to take it off and put back on. However, if you are successful, then it might be good news for others wondering the same question.

The "slip and assist clutch" only works on decel, to prevent the rear wheel from locking up on hard downshifts These have been around long before Harley started using them.

Good to know. I noticed clutch slippage when bike was stock and it got worse and started blowing thru the clutch not long after a just cam swap so in went a good clutch with no slip and drives much better.

I swapped out the original clutch springs to the 1200s when new doing a stage 3 114. Later I bumped it up again to 140hp 142tq where I started to get some clutch slip with the 1200 springs. Swapped them for the 1275s. No issues since. Bikes has 51k on it with the original clutch plates.
