here's where im at it noticed a little oil from the rear barrel base gasket i just bought the engine wondering if I should run it for a bit kinda don't want to tear it down right away or what til it's more noticeable

Honestly Now's the Time to do it because you're going to have to do it anyways and just create more work if you put it in the bike and then you got to rip everything back apart doesn't make sense take care of it now. So much easier..
A base gasket leak won't go away.
An EVO needs to be warmed up before riding, failure to do this results in poor metal expansion
resulting in base gasket leaks.
Just fix it now before riding season gets truly started.
Or wait until off season, if you have one.
Pop the timing cover off and replace the inner cam bearing, lifters and breather gear.
Don`t buy lifters on ebay or amazon (too much counterfeit stuff out there), get them from a reputable source, such as WFO Larry (he ships fast and has very reasonable prices).
