Deja vu. I've lived everything described. Thundering thru Nebraska late on a Saturday, my right leg became covered in oil and the ride quality went to hell. The RH pinch bolt broke. Found an HD shop in Columbus, NE that was open on Sunday that fixed me up. Same story, only took $90 AND washed the bike. As soon as I got home, dumped the grade 3 bolts and installed some grade 8 hardware. That was 25K miles ago, incident free. Sounds like this is a weak link in the front end and won't be addressed if ya still suffer thru dealer servicing, unless ya request it. IMHO, change the bolts before it leaves ya hanging somewhere.
i have read on some forums that a harder bolt defeat the purpose ,that they are made grade 5 for a reason,like they are suppose to brake when hitting pot hole,dont make since
