I have 98 Heritage Softail with stock exhaust and screamin eagle slip ons.
Recently I had to take whole exhaust system off to remove the starter.
After reinstalling the exhaust, I noticed my slip ons started to get a yellow/gold tint on them 2 weeks later.
I then purchased new mesh gaskets(hp ones which are a little smaller) and theslip onsare getting more yellow.
Slip ons are 10 years old. I have made no adjustments elsewhere.
Have I not installed the pipes on the gaskets correctly, or is it just a coincidence that theslip onsare getting yellow now, but it sure seems funny theslip onsdid not turn yellow until I took off the entire exhaust system?
Should I go back to stock harley gaskets? Do slip ons only last 10 years before yellowing?
Please help.
Did you thoroughly clean off the slip-ons after doing the work? May be a dumb question, but if there is a bunch of oil from your hands left on them it could discolor them also, especially if they are slip-ons with no heat shields.
