I'm having an issue with the idle on my 2002 Fatboy. It starts up with the idle a little high but drops to nornal within a couple seconds. It would also hold the high idlewhen coming to a stop if I just pulledthe clutch and coasted tothe stop. Within a couple seconds of being completely stopped theidle will drop to normal again. Recently I added a Big Sucker air filter and Fuelpak. After getting it all programmed it worked good, but still had the same issue. This week I pulled the baffles out of the exhaust and noticed that it seems to be even worse. Everytime I come to a stop it holds the idle high, I even notice that after accelerating then letting off that the it acts like the throttle doesn't completely close.I can hear that it's keeping the idle high until I let the bog down a bit. I don't know if not having the baffles in is actually making it worse, or if I just notice it more since it's louder.
He would have a heck of a time hooking up a fuel pack to a carb
Have you messed with the TPS switch or tried to change the idle speed? Sounds like your IAC needs some attention. The stepper motor sounds like it isn't returning.
I've heard that the idle air control doesnt take over until the speed sensor reads zero which is why it drops right back down as soon as you come to a stop.
Normal.... That sucks. It does makes sense though because once the spedo drops to zero, the idol drops. The only other thing that makes it work it to "bog" the motor when coming to a stop in 2nd gear and you can hear the idle drop. It annoys the crap out of me though.
