go with the fatboy. i can say from experience that the train is not meant for 2up riding. you can do as others say and put a more comfortable seat on it for you and your passenger, which is what i did. it was fine while we were riding, but i couldn't stomach to look at the thing while i was walking up to it...i guess some would call me a snob in those regards. if i could have done it, i would have still have the train and the bike i got, but i couldn't realisticly accomplish that goal.
the fatboy is a sweet-**** machine in every sense. it looks spectacular, handles like a dream, can be customized six ways from sunday, etc., etc.
my train was slammed and had some engine work done. it looked, sounded and ran like a bad motha. sucked ballz with two up riding on the stock seat and rode like...well, a bike without any suspension, which was of my own doing, of course.
i'd say go with the fatboy. loved the train, but it was more of an image thing to me. fatboy riding is a better all-around experience.
Wow. Awesome responses. I still very torn. I LOVE the look of the train. If I go that direction, I am going to get the pewter paint, lower it, and put black spoke rims on her. However, after bike week, there is no doubt that the Fatboy would be a better distance ride, as well as two up with my wife. The thing is, I don't haul my wife alot, but the times I do, it would be nice to be comfortable. This is really what I SHOULD think about. I hate to clean chrome, hence the Nightster and Train. I guess I answered my own question. Your responses are greatly appreciated.
ive got an o5 train.had to buy a sundowner seat for my girl.like an earlier post said... its UGLY! she rides only a few times a month,so i keep the badlander on most of the time.my bike is slammed, with the new seat ,she has no problems on a short ride(75 miles ore less)
I have an 07 Train and my wife didn't make it 20 minutes on the stock seat. She refuses to get back on until I get a new seat.
Several things I like about the Train over the Fatboy: blacked out motor, forward pegs and I prefer the bobtail fender. Why have a 200 tire and cover it up...................
Can't go wrong with either. Coming from a nighster, I would think that the night train would be your choice. Also check out the street bob or the fat bob, both wonderful bike themeselves. Or just jump right to the street glide, as you will want that after next season
Get the train, it is obvious that is what you want. All you have to do is get a another seat for when you want to ride the little lady and throw the badlander or a solo on whenyou are by yourself.
What this guy said.
It's got to have curb appeal to you. Sounds like you're a Night Train guy to me.
You can always change the seat with one screwand add bags for two up riding in seconds with all the detachables out there.
