Default chrome frame insert problems

i put the frame inserts on my 05 deuce, cleaned frame like it said went for a 100 mile ride.when i got home the 1 above pipe was upside down.the glue was melted soft and it just came off. when it cooled i stuck back on and it held so far. a week later i come out and 1 on left side was on ground.bike is in semi heated garage about 57 degrees.cold must of did something.glue was still on bike which came off tape.i know i could glue them on with something but i dont want something too permanent that will ruin paint on frame if i remove.so question is did anyone else have this problem? and any advice on what will correct, thanks, brian

Nutsy,
If your talking about the chrome swing arm inserts the directions that come with them are not the best..... it tells you that you have to bend one side but if you feel the recess both need to be bent, one side in and one side out. also on my standard there were 4 black plastic hole plugs (2 on each side) that I had to shave off to make complete contact with sticky tape on the back of the insert. Hope this helps. Bob

Brian,
I used a 1/4" wood chisel, I kept it off the paint and knocked the heads off the plugs. Feel that right side recess at the top, on mine it kicked out just a little. Hope this helps. Bob

The proper cleaning with adhesive remover (3m) is important to get them to stick. Usually if they come off, replace the tape with new tape or they fall off again because the tape is contaminated already.
