Default new bars, etc

I spent yesterday adding some new pieces to the puzzle.......I got some store credit from my local dealer for steering my uncle there last week who bought a new '08FXSTC. With my credit and adding a bit more $$$ to it, I added new bars, the Willie G. Skull designer pieces and SS front brake lines. I also took the time while the tank was off to add one of thechrome rocker housings(front cylinder) that have been lying aroundin my garage for the last couple of months. I'll do the rear when I change out my paint set in a couple of weeks (can't wait for that!)....I'm waiting for thetorque adapter to come from Snap-On to torque the rear cylinders rocker housing bolts under the frame rail.So here's a pic or two of the results.....

Well that's not going to be thought of as a run of the mill FXST anymore.
Looks really nice that way, have you had a chance to see howthe new bars feel for distance yet?

Those are Drag Specialties buffalo bars.1.25" OD with an 8" rise, I'm not sure about the pullback, 7.5 I think, and with my 3" extension forwards, they are more comfortable for my 6' 4" frame.Very similar to Carlini's, though maybe not as smoothly finished welds. At less thanhalf the price, I can live with it. The hardest part about installation was plumbing the wiring harnesses......it was tricky to make themturn into the riser, especially the thicker left side bundle. Other than that it was a breeze. I didn't need harness extensions or anything, and could have even used the stock brake line, though so ugly I opted to buy the SS braidedwhile I had it off.

Thanks so much, I've done a lot of little things and a few big ones.My paint set will be done in a couple of weeks and that will really add a much more custom look to it. Wheels will probably be my next larger project over the winter, though I seem to add something or other every week or two. I have as much fun tinkeriing with it as riding it. I have more money in it now than if I'd bought a custom, but I knew I would be changing, paint, wheels, seat and bars, and I could buy the chrome engine kit for 1/4 of the difference in price between the FXST and FXSTC, so it seemed the best way to go. I would have liked to had the black powdercoated engine, but hey, SE's have silver powerplants

I've not had a chance to ride anything but a couple of short jaunts, but I think the bars will be as good or better than the stock bars for long distance trips. I'm not particularly bent forward at the waist, and I can still use my backrest and get good support.

Lookin' good so far,
I especially like your Gunfighter seat and Big Radius pipes. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]Great choices in my opinion.
Give us a heads up on what you're doing to the paint.

Nice look...drag bars. I'm on the same path (wheels next)and being tall also...only 6'3"... I went a little higher and back. I like the lower look though.
