Default tire wear

I have an 07 fxstc with a d402f mh90-21" tire on the front that has 8900 miles on it.It's ready to be replaced, but my question is: Why did it wear out on the right side way more than it did on the left?No jokes about just turning right please.HD stealer allready tried that.
Could it be an alignment problem?Any help would be appreciated

Hey Cap, same exact thing here.

07 FXSTC, 4500 miles and while it's not anywhere near replacemant yet it definitely shows noticeable wear on the right side of the tire. I keep my front at 38 psi,the rear at 40 psi and check them often so it's not a pressure problem.

I know my handlebars are a little off but this is also a common problem with the soft mounted bars that we have.I'm hoping it's not a chassis alignment problem!! Also, I think 8900 miles is pretty good for replacement isn't it??

Anybody else??

thanks flyboy, I check my pressures a lot,so that's out. But I will check out the alignment of my bars and get a chassis check.I'll keep you posted on any results.I'm not sure on the 8900 figure,I put a wide tire and fatboy fender on my 97fxstc years ago and changed it once for every two rear tires and I don't do burnouts. Thanks again

My 21" tire is worn out on the right side also. I thought it was just that I had run it low on air a few times. I'm only at 7,300 miles right now and need to replace the rear and the front!

Cant offer you a great solution to the problem other than balancing the wheel...but, I would not be any where near happy with that mileage from a front tyre!

I have replaced my rear tire twice on an 06 Ultra, each one got over 15K in miles. Front is still the original factory installed tire, and still has life in it and I have over 32k on the bike. It was good enough for me to ride it today from Michigan to Tennessee, and I'll head back on Saturday.

You have something wrong...perhaps a balance problem, hard to know for sure.

Hey Trailfndr. Thanks for the input but I think there is a huge difference between the front tire on an Ultra and our skinny tires on the Softail Customs/Standards. I know that if there is a balance problem that it usually shows up as a condition called "cupping" or "scalloping" but my tire is showing even wear all around the right side. Nothing real bad but just more visible wear on the right side than onthe left side. Also, I routinely ride in the 70/80 mph range and have not felt any type of imbalance from the front wheel so I'm just not convinced this is a balance problem.

I used to ride a Honda VTX and they were notorious for the front tire wearing out on the left side first but this was attributed to "road crown" and I can almost buy that but it's just strange to me how my tire is wearing in the right side faster than the left. Also, it's obvious others are experiencing the same thing.

Anybody else with the same right side front tire wear??

Try looking at the area where the risers meet the triple clamp. If the risers are misaligned at the top triple, the bars can be realigned easily. Just loosen the riser bolts a bit, straighten bars and tighten. That should do it. Mine were deliverd that way. Servicing dealer (not the one I purchased bike from) fixed it free.

Mine did the same thing, but I attrbuted it to my spirited riding style on the numerous off ramps (cloverleaf style) in the area.Think about it, it makes sense. Mine lasted approximately 6400 miles.

I got about 2400 miles out of the stock dunlop on my FXSTI, worn out on right handside. All dealers blame road camber and pressure. Left side riding here in Australia, so one would think left side to wear in the US if this was the case.
