I am trying to black out my Night Train even further ... at a recent event, I met another guy with a NT that planned in wrapping his drag bars in black bicycle handlebar tape. Remember the old cloth 10 speed tape?
Has anyone done this? It seems straight forward and may look pretty cool - just like wrapping the exhaust. The tape is cheap too.
Unless your planning on doing the same kind of thing to the exhaust, to stay in "theme". I have to agree withanubuss, powder coat or paint it.
Besides its going to be a royal pain in the butt to getthe tape to cover the bars up really well and stilllook presentablearound the risers and clamp.
I did it and it looked great but I didn't use bicycle tape I used black sport tape (like for Baseball bats) and I hace one piece drag bars so I didn't have the riser clamps tp deal with. Michael
Interesting thought. Actually, I happen to have a stock drag bar that I powder coated satin black laying around... I'd sell it for some reasonable price, as I won't be using it. Let me know if interested.
