The only weather that keeps me off my ride is snow/ice. Cold I can handle - got heated gear, etc... I've ridden plenty of times when it was below freezing.
I have no heated gear and I will ride all year. I wont knowingly ride in ice or snow but have been caught in a heavy snow squall off guard with rapid slush accumulation, really sucked! But I made through okay. Al the better for it. Dont wish it again. If you dress properly it's not bad.....Weather is crisp no bugs and for the most part your bike stays clean. sometimes you just have to suck it up!
I just want to be a little warmer while I'm sucking it up. I saw some gauntlet leather gloves with thinsulate on the Harley site. I'm thinking about getting those. Have not really thought about the heated gloves since it doesn't get crazy cold where I live. Any recommendations?
I'm in California too. I guess I'm spoiled, I consider 56Âş cold cause at 65MPH it feels like 46Âş. I only have gauntlet leather gloves with thinsulate so my hands are OK in the winter but are to hot in the summer.
I have ridden in a sleet storm where the ice started piling up and that convinced me it was no place for a bike. So I refuse to ride anymore if the temps are below the mid 40's. Besides with the heart meds I'm on the cold affects me a LOT more than it did 20 or more years ago.
But there are about three or four guys in the city who ride as road guard for funerals. They do it all year round in snow, ice, rain.
The only concession is that once the snow starts they put a set of those training wheels on their bikes so they can cope with the snow and ice without having their bikes slide out from under themevery ten feet.
PhantomMaxx,
Love that sig pic, now you just need to figure out how to get sound in and it will be perfect.
BTW How did you get it to look like your riding?
I'm just curious. How cold does it have to be before you decide not to ride your bike?
So far it hasn't gotten cold enough. I'm a daily commuter on my bike and temps routinely get into the high 20's. Doesn't get any colder than that here in Tucson. Take wind chill into effect and it's down into the low teens. Brrrrrr. So why don't I take my truck? AmI crazy?????

So why don't I take my truck? AmI crazy?????
I think I can answer both questions by just answering just the second, Yes your crazy.
But then isn't nearly everyone around here just a little "off"?

Whenever there is a chance of black ice, its too cold.
I agree, any reports of black ice will instantly put a stop to my riding. My son wiped out his 2 month old Neon on some a couple of years ago. Its all the convincing I need to stay off the streets when it shows its ugly face.

Thanks. There is no PDG code that allows us to add audio to the threads. I actually am riding. I buddy took a series of 4 pictures on me riding after work. What you see is an animated GIF file repeating 4 consecutive images in a loop.
