Yeah, I was thinking about a tach after speaking to a friend over the weekend. He was telling me if I want to get every little bit out of the bike It's important to change at the correct speed. Don't really care about it, but often find myself wondering if I'm in the correct gear and trying to listen to the motor over the pipes etc. I sometimes have to work the speed out as to what gear I'm in.
He got a separate tach, on the risers, or attached to them. He says it was the best mod he made. Not too expensive either, even with Harley charging for all the dials, attachments etc.
Would love some more input from others on this too.
The last time I checked the combined HD speedo/tack was about $353 (instead of $449.99) at Zanottimotor.com. They come in a variety of faces. Nice unit that I still don't have.
I use the combination speedo/tach fromHD. It works great and it's easy to read.I thought about an add-on, mounted to the handlebar clamp, but I run a windshield and the tach placed there, wouldn't leave me room for the windshield bag.
I went with the handle bar clamp mounted mini tach. Ilike the combo unit, but IMHO I found you are really looking down to see the tach. The mini tach is not plug and play. Wires have to be routed under the tank, hooked into the ECM, fuse block, and ground.
