Default Frame protector and lift

Okay, I bought the orange frame protector. I have the red lift from sears. I cut it so it fits nice and tight on the frame, but there’s no way this lift will fit under the bike now. What am I doing wrong? My bike is an 07 Heritage.

Thank you,
Earl

probally nothing. just need to raise the bike a bit to get the jack under it. ride the bike on some wood planks to raise it up a bit. 2x6 or so should do it.

You may not have to ride it up on the borads, it may only be necessary toput a small block of wood under the Jiffy stand.
Lowered bikes often have thesame problem your having with the Red jack. The silver/yellow colored version is a bit lower so it can fit under more bikes.

I had the same problem with mine. I have a Softail Deluxe and the red lift wouldn't fit. Went back and upgraded it to the yellow one and it works great.

The Sears yellow/silver lift stand is the one I found that works well. A little more money, but it works.

I just rode the front wheel on a 2 x 4 and the lift went right under the bike with no problem.

I ride my front tire onto a 2X4...and place a 2X4 under the jiffy stand.
I have a red jack from Sears.
Depending on how your bike sits......you may need more.....or less clearance.

Hi,

Kayak here. I have an 07 FXST. May I ask what kind of lift you are talking about? Is this for lfting the bike so you can work on it? May I ask how much they are?

I have an 07 FXSTC, which is basically the same thing with more "bling".
Its a motorcycle lift that's sold inSears stores. When they are on sale the red (steel) version is under a $100. Not sure how far under, but you can look it up on their web site to see when they go on sale to save a couple of bucks.
The other version they sell is the silver and yellow aluminum model. This on is a bit more expensive and usually runs around $169.99but if you have one of their "Craftsman Club" membership cards (free) its on sale this weekend for $139.99.
Both are more than capable of lifting the heaviest bike around so its your choice which you want to get.
Personally I went for the more expensive aluminum version for a couple of reasons.
One its a lot lighter and easier to deal with in the garage, two its lower so it will fit under abike even if its lowered a bit. and lastly I like the idea that if I wash the bike while its on it. Being made of aluminum I won't have to worry about it rusting on me.
If you get one, and I would recomend it as it will make working on the bike a bunch easier. you can also move the bike around in the garage really easily on the jack. But if you do get one make sure you go the extra mile and ght the frame protectors from your local dealer. At about $15 they are well worth it to keep the full weight of the bike off the shocks when you do lift it up.

Have fun.

I have the Craftsman "red" and an FXSTC. I don't trust the jack at all because the bike seems unstable when lifted. So, how does the silver/yellow version address this issue?
