Default Front brake question

I recently installed new apes, controls, and cables on my 03 Heritage. I have noticed that the front brake is not as tight, or effective as before. I have blead the brakes and have excellent pressure on the lever. However, when I apply the brake I do not get as much bite as I had before. It feels like there is oil or somthing on the brakes. I have cleaned them several times as well. The brake pads have less than 500 miles on them. Any ideas on how to put more bite in my front brake??

It could be the longer brake line especially if its not steel or braid,But I think throughly cleaning the disk should fix it.

There is air in your brake line, the banjo bolts tend to trap air, if your pads are clean and so is your disk that is your problem. Re bleed your front brake line and that will all go away.

I had to reverse bleed my front, I couldn't believe how many tiny little bubbles came up to the master cylinder.

Same here, I reverse bleed mine with a piece of clear tubing and large syringe, pull all the fluid out from the caliper bleeder while your holding the syringe up high, you'll see air bubbles floating to the high point or into the syringe, push the fluid back in now and repeat until you get no more air.
Its a lot less messy than trying the old drain it out the bleeder valve.

Brake line quality also has an effect. If you added a longer line and it's not braided or otherwise of high quality, the cable can expand some with a squeeze of the lever and not apply full force to the caliper. Just another thing to consider. Hope bleeding it again as stated above solves your problem. Ride safe.
