What could happen to the shocks if frame protectors aren't used? Worst case?

Maybe make a ture hardtail out of it when the shocks shafts get bent and jam up inside the cans.

What Citor said (both times).
Buy the frame protectors.
It's a simple, cheap solution (and works very well).

use mine with nothing on my Train. no marks no bent shock. You'd need a sledge hammer to bend those bolts.

I have the Sears yellow jack. Get the HD frame protectors and custom cut the length to fill up as much as the frame as you can. Then take a sharpie and mark the right and left side. I actually use 4 total pieces for maximum coverage. This lets me place the jack in any position with no worries. Just use a hack saw and they will cut like butter.

Just took a look under my own 08 HSTC and saw that the shocks protrude down just enough to be a problem. So it's clear that if I get the yellow jack I will also have to get these HD adaptors. That will bring the total cost with tax to around $200. Still $160 less than the J&S one which I suspect would also need the adaptors. But the J&S doesn't need strapping..........and I can liftthe bike while its on the jiffy stand.Nice features but are they worth the extra cost?.

Got the same jack...and bought the frame protectors....can't go wrong with that set-up.

Just remember to remove the frame protectors when your done, so you don't look like a Jackass riding all over the place.

I got home from a 85 mile ride, parked the bike, and was admiring my fatty......and holy crap....the frame protectors were still on!

Last time I'll admit that I was a Jackass!

You do not need frame protectors with the J&S Jack. I use it on my Ultra, and the wifes Deluxe with no problems whatsoever.

I never have to strap the bike, even taking off wheels, its as stable as can be, and the lifing hieght is great for working on the scoot.

Curious how J&S jack avoids contact with shocks of a soft tail w/o using frame protectors?
