I use it down here in Cyprus. It sounds very nice but actually it is a lot of bull. The jacket is heavy and needs to be zipped down at all times (forget hot weather), then it has to be attached on the bike which you need to be careful when you get off the bike. (My mate had it on and forgot about it !!!!!!!!) When it inflates it becomes a huge ball!!!! A police officer which had a crash on it told me that it is too much adoo about nothing. 95% of the injuries are on the hands, legs, head and pelvis. The rest are usually minor since it is very rare for chest injuries. As far as the claim that it helps the back and spine is questionable since it does not deflate fast enough on impact to take in some of the energy.
I had three injuries on bikes the past 17years that I ride, never hurt my chest........ (mind you I did take part in circuit racing)
My advice to you is that you should invest in a good quality helmet (Schuberth, ARAI e.t.c), gloves (Icon, Alpinestars) leathers (H.D. or any other thick quality)
my friend has an impact mesh jacket...air goes thru it ok...has had a couple close calls gettin off the bike.. he looks like a walking billboard with all the reflective lettering (it's stuck on really tight )....I'm thinkin it's overkill but whatever makes you happy
hmmm, saw a small clip on cnn.com about it a while back. Think it saved some guy's butt pretty good. He flew about 50 feet and i think only bust up a finger plus a few bruises here and there. Seemed to work well. .......That was on a highway.
