I think I will have to replace the battery just for peace of mind.
I am not sure how the battery was maintained prior to my purchase and my riding style is not great for the battery, I am sure.
I ride to and from work which are short rides and probably not enough time to adequately recharge the battery, and no.. I dont keep it on a battery tender.( should have!)
However , I work in the telecom industry and our field techs have a test gear ( Metronix) that can test the health of the battery for me...all they need is the Siemens number to enter in the test gear, apparently every battery has a Siemens number which is based on its specifications .
Anybody know what the Siemens # is for a stock HD battery?
I to have noticed the starter starting to drag a little bit. I have a battery tender but have not hooked it up. I need to install the quick disconnect so I can plug in without taking the seat off.
Anyone know if the battery can be brought back if I start leaving it on the tender? I imagine it is a percentage thing.
It all depends on how much you ride in my opinion. I had one last for 7 years one time but I ride year round due to living in the south. But if you only ride once in a blue moon you will replace more frequently.
Take it to a battery dealer and he can run a check on it and will tell you if it's ok or not
I try not to swear at my battery and I take it out more often then my dog.Battery seems happy... The dog seems a little down though. [sm=happybounce.gif]
