Sh*t! I got my FB around 2 weeks ago. I've managed to put only 100 miles on it because I'm busy with moving, the frickin' weather, andmyGF and Irun a business. I was carrying a solid wood door down my garage stairs, I slipped and it fell on my FB. I now have a dent in the tank around 4 inches wide, an inch high, and probably a good 1/4 in deep into the tank. It also left a few white marks from the door paint on the tank (I even had the bike cover on). The HD sticker on the tank got dinged too. Anyway, has anybody tried this (I got this off of the General section of this forum under Down & Dirty Tips. I think I'm going to go throw up now.

"This works on fuel tank and other dents that don't involve a "crease" in the metal. Purchase a piece of dry ice (frozen c02) at your local ice house. It should be larger than your dent. Using thick gloves or a towel to hold the ice, apply it to the dented area. Hold the ice in place until frost forms at least an inch beyond the dent all the way around. Remove the ice and place the tank or metal part in the Sun if possible. If the trick works you'll be able to watch the dent vanish before your eyes. This also works to remove many parking lot dents in car doors."
I've heard guys say it works, but I've never tried it myself.I thinksometimes it takes a couple of applications to completely remove the dent. Can't hurt to try it.
I've never heard of that, but I wish you the best of luck. That's a real rough one bro. I don't know your background with mechanics, but the tank isn't too difficult to get off. I'd imagine the tins only get easier after that. Just trying to stay positive, but do you think a badazz paint job could be in order now? Sorry that happened.
I've always heard that bike gas tanks are too thick for any kind of paintless dent removal, including the dry ice trick. Yours sounds like a good bodyshop is needed. Sorry to hear that!
Treid the dry ide thing a while back and it did NOT work on my tank...I think with the damage you were describing you ougt to just buy another tank if it is important to you.
Have tons of correct tools here. just being cautious on my first fluid changes. somewhat different than my previous dyna . 2006 BOB . Did mine before 1000 miles,i hve about 750 on my bike.
