Sorry for the rant brothers, I just can't figure out why you guys don't do your own wrenching is all. The guy doing your work has two hands the same as yours, and probably a lower IQ! Ask some fellow brothers if you have reservations about the how to and dig in the work yourselves. You are robbing yourselves of a great deal of satisfaction and pride in doing your own work. Once again, MY BAD!!
I would check with American Classic on Ebay or Shooter64 on this forum, call them if you want more confidence on your purchase.
+1 on giving yourself the oppurtunity to upgrade your bike on your own, it makes me appreciate my bike more! Not saying all of you don't appreciate your bikes if you don't wrench on them, I just enjoy doing my own work!
The pipe install was my biggest self-done mod to date. I can hang pretty chrome pieces with the best of 'em but when I get around that big V-shaped thing in the middle, I get nervopus. It's sometimes tough to understand how simple something can be until you actually do it. In soliciting advice from the folks here, I got enough confidence to try it myself and everything worked out great. Now, if I stripped an exhaust port bolt or put a ding in my tank, I'd be saying, "Should have taken it to the dealer!"If you take your time, use the proper toolsand think things through to the end ("Maybe I should put a blanket over my gas tank before I scratch it!"), the probability for success will be much greater.
Definitely pull the right floorboard if installing BSS on a Fatboy. Just do it before you do anything else. I was glad I did or I'd still be trying to get them to fit.
