digital cameras have saved frustrations many times...once I get something apart,i snap a photo in macro and move on...I later look at what ive snapped to ensure ive put colored wires,nuts,etc....back where they came from. Its a little time consuming but it works for me.I did this when doing the same thing you are doing.

Another guilty party. I will always reach for a beer, long before I reach for a camera !

Hehehe... for my previous mods I was dilligent in taking pictures, both for my own reference and for anyone else planning to do the same thing. I just didn't realize how involved this would be until I was too far in. As it was, I had to let it sit for a day and regroup when I couldn't get the turn signals to cooperate...

You're absolutely right, though - digital cameras are invaluable for these projects... should be the first tool you grab!

Ah man, I remember that 1 hour project that took the entire weekend. That has got to be the biggest pita I ever attempted.

And yeah, I remember doing the "cement dog walk" lol, (whilst screaming explicitives) for the stupid clip that hold that thing in place.

I remember sending this half way round the world in an email filled with profanity to a bud. ...................

Finally, a bud came round for dinner Sunday night and did it in like 4 mins.

Still don't know what that black thing is, but I definately heard it snap orf. [&o]

I know what it is. It is the front of the brake switch piston behind the brake lever. When you squeeze the lever the piston pops out to activate the switch. I would check to make sure your brake lights are not constantly on if I were you...just as a precaution. Take it from experience, before you put the assembly back together, squeeze the lever and place a piece of cardboard behind the lever to keep it compressed slightly. It makes the re-assemble easier, doesn't cost to replace anything, and troubleshooting will be out of the question.
