This one threw me a bit this morning as I was about to embark on my daily comute.
I always start the bike (06 Deluxe) 5 minutes before I leave so it can get up to temp. Reset the kill switch and turned on the main ignition switch and the bike tried to start on it's own without me touching the run switch. Quickly shut her down and tried the proceedure again. Same thing. Just keeps turning over but never fires up completely.
Anyone have any ideas before I get the stealer to pick it up. Had to jump in the car and sit in traffic for two hours to so couldn't look into things deeper, but will try when I get home. Just don't know quite where to start.
I had the same thing happen to me after lubing my throttle cables a couple of years ago. I had gotten oil into the "start" switch, which was making a circuit. I had to clean it several time with electrical contact cleaner to get the oil out. I have also seen water do the same thing.
It's had nothing spilt on it, or gotten wet. It may be a little cold and dampin the garage, but nothing out the ordinary. The pre ignition pump has been making a funny noise recently but has'nt affected the bike at all.
Did 130 miles on it yesterday, stopped for gas with no problems. Ran great.
