First thing to do is throw the single piston front brake in the trash and put on an aftermarket chrome 4 piston caliper. The stock brake borders on dangerous. I think they are worried that the 4 piston brake will bend the fork legs. But if you hit something, you will bend more than the fork
Brakes are for pussies!

I am in the process now of installing front & rear PM brakes on my 2003 Springer FXSTSI. I got them from American Classic Motors Ebay Store. Was the best price I could find. PM has very clear downloadable instructions on their website. So far has not been too bad of a job.

That's cool. Let us know how it turns out and how difficult it was. I'm really interested in this.

I'm usually really good with tools until I get near a motorized vehicle, and then the gremlins get me cornered...

I was in the process of replacing the front & rear wheels/tires, so I thought what the hell, I might as well do the brakes while I am at it.

Like I said, I am just about finished, just have to hook up the brake lines & bleed the brakes.

The PM online instructions are very clear & straight forward, I took my time and simply followed their instructions. Install went without a hitch. I have speed bleeders on order and will finish up the job this weekend.

I put on an HHI caliper from Dennis Kirk. Cost about $450 a couple of years ago. Installation was easy. The only thing remotely technical was bleeding the brakes. Total time was a couple of hours because I also put on a braided brake line. Stopping power was dramatically increased and more chrome is always good.
