Default Softail Springer question????

This may sound silly, but I just bought a used 2004 Springer Softail, and noticed the front fender, and tire looks to sit to one side of the springer front end?. Is this normal? Bike ride like a dream, and suspension works trouble free, everything looks right to me other then the fact it looks that these pieces are little off centred??
If anybody could advise it would be greatly appreciated.........
Thanks,
Newest member of the softail family..........

You see that little black thing on the right side that rubs on that other thingy with the holes in it? That's why there's "offset".
Now, if you take that black thing and holey thing off, you can spacer your wheel into the center but you won't be able to STOP very good.

Seriously, I think that's why. Brake and Rotor space.

Oh, congrats on the nice looking "Springer".

First thing to do is throw the single piston front brake in the trash and put on an aftermarket chrome4 piston caliper. The stock brake borders on dangerous. I think they are worried that the 4 piston brake will bend the fork legs. But if you hit something, you will bend more than the fork

I agree.... The stock caliper sux. Go with Lyndall pads on a 4 piston and it will really shock you. Serious stopping power !

Any suggestions on which caliper to get? Also, what is a reasonable range for parts and labor? Any hidden "while you're at it" upgrades that I will likely want to do at the same time?

Thanks!

Oh-oh, you got one of those offset wheels?Nice Springer! As for the brakes...just don't tailgate. I get by just fine with stock calipers and EBC pads.

I would go with Jaybrake or PM. They are the same. You must buy the bracket in addition to the caliper (as you would for most aftermarket calipers) . The caliper is $250 and the bracket is about $100... You could do it yourself if you wanted to. But I can't see it costing more than 1 or 2 hours of labor. Anymore than that and I would choose adifferent dealer.
