Default Amsoil Question

I'm using Amsoil for my engine and I want to use it in my transmission. What type of Amsoil should I use? I live in Florida...

I use the Amsoil Severe Gear 75-90. It's a synthetic gear lube.
You may want to consider the 75-140.

Down where you are in FLif you do a lot of slow stop and go riding in the heat of summer I would vote for the 75-140W.
The 75-90W stuff is fine for the rest of the year or you rarely do the slow stop and go junk.

If that's all you can find, go for it.
Worst thing that will happen is that its a tad harder to shift until it warms up when its cold out.
With modern chemistry at work, I doubt you'll notice any realdifference.

Remember that the 75 in 75-140W or 75-90W is supposed to mean that the oils viscocity is the equivlent of 75W straight weight dino oil when its cold. So in theory they will behave exactly the same way. Its only when the temps start climbing to the stratosphere that the 90 or 140 part becomes important.

Besides as a last resort you can always order it on line. Might take a week or so to get there. But because the tranny oil doesn't see any of the byproducts of burning fuel.
Changing it"exactly" on time isn't quite as criticalIMHO as doing the engine oil.
Just look at the dip stick, if the oil looks clean its probably fine for a week or so and unless you plan on going another 5 or 10K in that time frame or know there is a lotof bits of metal floating in it.
Personally I wouldn't have a problems leaving it in theretill the new stuff arrives. And I'm one of thoseanal loons when it comes to changing engine oil.
I changed my engine oil 4 times in the first 4500 miles instead of the usual twice, but I only did the primary and tranny twice.

I did my service at 1000, 4000, and getting ready to do it again at 7000 (just fluids and filter). So far I really like the amsoil.

Check out the "Oil & Oil Related Topics" section of the forum. Lots of good stuff there. Here's a link to one of the threads/polls on tranny oil.
