Default great deal/bat tender

ok heres what i did for a battery tender.went the cheap route first waljunk special it last two weeks b4 the lites burned out took it back..,,,so i go to amazon.com and look there,i find a deltran model for 50 bucks, plus if you can qualify by applying for the credit card offer, you get 30 bucks off your first purchase and you qualify for free shipping!! so you end up with a great deltran tender for 20 bucks .when the cc bill comes in pay it off and cancel the card( the rate aint all that great) and there u go .the only roadblock you mite hit is on your credit score,u gotta have ok credit to get the 30 dollars off

I Bought the Deltran Battery Tender Junior at the Harley dealer for around $30.00 + 10% off.

Sounds great, until you realize that cancelling credit cards like that also tanks your credit score. It's called the "utilization" rate. The math nerds at FICO look at a host of factors, but the biggest component is your credit-utilization rate - your total outstanding debt divided by your credit limits. When you take out a credit card the utilization rate changes but by cancelling it the rate will actually change negatively. The up and down is especially damaging. Long and short of it ... the statistical data doesn't know you're screwing with the card companies, it just knows you cancelled a valid card. And as far as the system is concerned it's more likely for a bad reason than a good one. So they get you one way or the other.

Just remember, whenever you think you've found a way to "get the man," chances are the man's lawyers have already thunk of how to get you right back.
