Goodbye Softail-ers
dlrshort,
I made the change because of the comfort and tourability aspects of the bike compared to my Deluxe. I spent a lot of money trying to get the bike more comfy for I and the wife, and it just wasn't happening. After talking with a H-D tach at my local dealer he said the only way to get adjustability with a softail suspension is to buy different suspension. But I loved the look of the Deluxe better than any other Harley on the showroom floor. If I had the money I would have kept the Deluxe for myself, but I am not a rich man and have 3 teenagers I'm still raising. And I did get it with the ABS as that just seems a great safety feature with my wife on the back. God knows we've all slammed on the brakes and had to ride out the skid and try to keep it straight.
I haven't thought much about the changes I will make to the bars, but if I end up not liking them they are gone. I loved the look of my Deluxe and when I went shopping for a touring bike I bought the closest thing I could find that reminded me of it.
Merry XMAS to all and keep it upright.
JonnyD out.

I have a FLST and a FLTR. You will like your new ride for the reasons you've indicated. I got the Heritage for it's looks and the low seat height. I've owned 2FLHRs and have found both of them pretty unfomfortable until I changed seat and bars. My favorite style bars are the FLST and I have those on my Road GLide as well. You'll have to wait a bit for bars as the new TBW set-up will limit options for awhile yet and the 6 gallon tank has limited seat choices for now.
However, you maybe lucky and find the new bike fits your ergos well out of the box.
Congratulations and Merry Christmas
