i'm 6'5" and going to be putting on apes this winter. my question is for taller guys what size apes do you have? i know this everyone is different, but i'm just looking for a general idea thanks
I'm 6'5" as well and ride a Fatboy - I started out with 16" apes with a 4" riser and did not feel they were tall enough for me...changed them out a few months ago to 20" with 4" riser and absolutely love 'em...would neveer go back. Also, I've ridden from Winston-Salem, NC to Biketoberfest on the bike with the taller apes (12 hours) and had the best ride ever. Rode the shorter ones to a rally this past spring (5 hours) and they were ok to, just not 100% what I wanted.
Check out this link to, you can set it to your state, for info around handlebar height and if there are restrictions...I do not have any restrictions in NC, however, I receive a ticket in FL for the bars being over my shoulder height (considered unsafe equipment there). http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/l...t.asp?state=NC
thanks, i'm going to go with the nash gimp hangers and the tallest the fabricate is 18". if i want taller i suppose i could always go with taller risers.
Hey BigMike, did you getthe ticket during bikeweek.I know several people that got tickets for the same thing during bikeweek. Just wondering if they were going to be strict about it all the time, or just duringbikeweek.
Yeah - got the ticket...$76.50...during Biktoberfest. Not downtown...no hassel there - plenty of cops around and none said a thing. Was on the way up to destination Daytona that they snagged me...sherrif walked right into the road and signaled me to get over. They were hiding under a bridge...go figure -
