Default What is the best seat

I have a 2004 Fat Boy and want to put a diffrent seat on it. I have back problams and after about 75 miles my back hurts so bad I cant turn my head. I have read alot of post about how great Mustang seats are but how does Saddlemen and Corbin seats compare. Any input is welcome.

Seats are really hard to get an answer on. Its like the pipes question of which one sounds better. Its all subjective. What I would ask you is, do you like a firm seat or a soft seat, would you like a back rest? do you want a solo seat? Do you like the look of your stock seat or do you want a different look. Mustang and Ultimate are probably your softest seats, corbin on the other hand is really firm. All can be had with riders back rests depending on the model you buy. Going off of someones recomendation for a seat is tough because, after you buy it, and then ride around, should you discover you dont like it, your out 500 bucks or more. I would suggest trying this first, atleast untill you may have the opertunity to try out a few seats on your bike or friends bikes. Send your seat to Alan at Mean City cycles (site sponsor) for a re-foaming and shaping of your stock seat for 100-200 bucks. I personally have not had him work on any of my seats, but everyone I know that has had him work on thiers is 100% satisfied. www.meancitycycles.com. But if you want to just take the plunge on a new seat with out trying, Mustang is a good choice, and it sounds like a back rest would do you alot of good too.

You want the "best", when it comes to long distance riding I don't think there is any better.

I have had a few different seats either a harley stock or harley aftermarket, mustang and corbin. I have found that once the corbin seat is broke in there is no better seat for my *** on the market. Like the other guy said it is all personal preference but mustang or corbin and I do not think you can go wrong.

I have a 03 Duece that I bought new. The first long trip I took with the stock seatwas 400 miles and my back killed me for 3 days. I bought the Mustang touring seat with the back rest and have never regretted it since. I took a 8000 mile trip a couple of years ago and my back didn´t hurt at all. I´m sold on Mustang seats.
P.S. My brother has a Corbin on his Road King and I think it is a rock.

I had the same problem. I read a post on here a while back that someone suggested a backrest from Firehouse Customs. I purchased one ($120) and installed it. At first, it felt like someone had their knee in my back. I struggled to get use to it for about a week, then couldn't take it anymore and took it off. Back pain returned immediately. I put it back on and eventually got use to it. I would recommend it as a low cost alternative to the HD, Mustang, Corbin, etc.

I did end up purchasing the 17.5"Mustang Wide Vintage with Backrest and 14" passengersetup. $731.00 shipped. It's alot of money for a seat, but I could absolutely not be happier! The seat looks great and the backrest is awesome. I ride all day with no problems. I should also add that I removed my stock bars and installed Wildone 515's with 4" pullback risers. No more backpain and no more numbness in my hands at all.
