I agree about the oil change - for what it costs - it certainly can't hurt. I'm 250 miles into my new ride and I'm still very impressed - the bike is fantastic.
When I got my Springer I had them put the SE2's and stage 1 before it left the shop. I sure am happy with mine.

Thanks for all the info. I'm loving the bike so far - ride it every chance I get. I started the mods out slow with a set of axle nuts - not a big deal, but they clean up the front end a bit.
I'll probably take it in close to 500 miles anyway to have a few items installed - they can do the adjustments then. I'm thinking of the SE slip ons and a Stage 1 kit. Also - detachable saddlebags as I'd use the bike more with a little storage.
I waited till 1000 miles for the first service as recommended by the dealer with no prolems. I was suprized at the cost, $230. The service manager said that other than checkng adjustment at 5k and 10k there is no special service until around 20k when the bushings will probably need service (replacement).
Another thing to make sure your mechanic does...at every 10,000 miles make sure the mechanic takes apart the front end COMPLETELY and greases and adjusts everything. All the bumps, etc. that you go over eventually jars the springer out of alignment. It's not part of the service at that point but a good thing to do, especially if you put in a lot of road miles. (I've got 32,000 in just under 3 years) most of my road trips are 1,200+ each time. Fortunately, I've got a good mechanic that does this as part of the service and doesn't charge extra for it even though it takes an extra hour or two.
jims hd in st. pete has a bad sevice center record. I've heard nightmares from previous customers! I bought my 06 FLSTCI there and will give em a chance since the 1k service is free. but i think any subsequent dealer service i need will b performed by Fletchers. I also did my first oil and filter change at 100 miles.
I bought the bike at Jim's HD as they had it in stock - no one else in the area had one. I actually live pretty close to Gulf Coast HD in New Port Ritchey - they seem to have it together there and I'll probably try them out after the initial service. I've also heard good things about Fletcher's.
And not to rub it in to you northerners - it was about 80 degrees today and the riding was perfect. There were nearly as many bikes as there were cars on the roads.
